Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering at GTU-ITR.

In an era where electricity is an indispensable pillar of modern life, the energy landscape is undergoing a radical transformation. As fossil fuel depletion and environmental concerns drive the global shift toward renewable energy-particularly solar photovoltaic, wind energy, green hydrogen, and the rapid adoption of electric vehicles, the professional requirements for engineers are evolving daily. Our department is committed to preparing qualified, highly skilled engineers capable of developing, operating, and controlling this sustainable energy future.

To meet these industry demands, we offer a vibrant learning environment centered around a fast-moving discipline. Learning takes place in modern classrooms with projector facilities and specialized laboratories, and we house the Anchor Institute of Solar Energy (AISE) and the Solar Research and Development Laboratory (Solar R&D), where students gain hands-on experience with renewable energy systems. Through our Siemens Centre of Excellence, students receive free high-end training in PLC, SCADA, Process Instrumentation, and Low Voltage Switchgear, while beyond their primary degree they can earn Minor Degrees in cutting-edge fields like 3D Printing, Solar Energy Systems, and Next-Generation Smart Villages. Our dynamic faculty members, specialized in Power Electronics, Drives, and Power Systems, prioritize student development and are always available to provide guidance.

By emphasizing practical components, industrial internships, and various software tools, we also ensure our students are at the forefront of conventional and modern industries. From manufacturing HV/LV equipment to designing the power grids of tomorrow, our graduates are equipped with the technical and coding skills necessary for a reliable and cost-efficient energy system.
